Steve Lacy’s rise to stardom may have happened quickly in his young career, but it’s certainly far from over.
A true visionary at only 24 years old, the Compton, Calif., native has created a truly original style that spans genres — as seen through his instantly identifiable guitar work, soulful songwriting and innovative takes on production.
Lacy was a teenager when he first arrived on the scene as a member of the Internet, earning his first Grammy nomination as a high school senior for producing the band’s 2015 breakthrough Ego Death.
While his production credentials grew shortly thereafter — working with the likes of Denzel Curry, J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar — he explored his own music, releasing Steve Lacy’s Demo in 2017 to wide acclaim. The success of that EP led Lacy to his first full-length album, 2019’s Apollo XIX, which garnered him his first Grammy nomination as a solo artist.
Even though there are many moments that could be considered standout in Lacy’s career, 2022’s Gemini Rights showed that his momentum wouldn’t stop. A masterpiece amalgamation of R&B, indie rock, funk, jazz and psych, the album is loaded with hits, especially the chart-topping “Bad Habit,” a track he showcased to a worldwide audience on Saturday Night Live.
Through all the success, Lacy continues to surprise with his arrangements, his collaborations and his ability to spin musical gold in any setting.
A REFLECTION OF ORIGINAL STYLE & SOUND
That’s why it’s no surprise that Fender teamed with the virtuoso on the new Steve Lacy People Pleaser Stratocaster.
Lacy's signature model is immediately striking in a hot pink and black "Chaos Burst" finish. Its Player Plus Noiseless single-coil pickups effortlessly access iconic Strat® sound, while a custom onboard Steve Lacy Chaos Fuzz circuit allows any player to easily unlock a huge range of dirty tones.
For unlimited playability, the People Pleaser features a modern Deep “C”-shaped neck with a 9.5” radius maple fingerboard and narrow tall frets. And for the ultimate in personalization, a checker patterned back plate, custom dice inlay at the 12th fret and vintage-style hardware case with fuzzy green interior round out the look.
Just like the namesake artist, the Steve Lacy People Pleaser Stratocaster is a true one-of-a-kind meant for players with limitless vision and a rebel spirit.
