Walking through the Fender display at the 2019 NAMM Show, it was hard to miss the buzz around two new signatuce models – the Duff McKagan Deluxe Precision Bass and the '62 Princeton Chris Stapleton Edition.

The Duff McKagan Deluxe Precision Bass is based on a 1980s Jazz Bass Special that the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer used to record Guns N' Roses' hit debut album, Appetite for Destruction. The updated model boasts features inspired by the legendary bassist’s preferences, including instant Drop D tuning, tonal versatility from a TBX (Treble/Bass Expander) tone circuit and a sleek black-painted neck with pearloid block inlays and binding.

“It’s an honor to evolve with a musician like Duff over the past two decades as he continues to set the bar for bass players in one of the world’s top touring bands,” said Fender Products Executive Vice President Justin Norvell.

This special P Bass is set to officially launch in March.

Meanwhile, the '62 Princeton Chris Stapleton Edition is a hand-wired marvel loaded with the country star's favorite features, such as vintage Blue tone caps, Shumacher transformers, and output tube-based tremolo circuit and an upgraded Eminence 12" "CS" speaker.

Aesthetically, the 12-watt combo is a stunner with a rough brown textured vinyl covering, a wheat grille cloth and a thick dark brown leather handle, while the dark brown control panel sports dark brown “radio” knobs and the rear panel features an engraved brass plate with Chris Stapleton’s signature. It also includes a footswitch for tremolo and a retro-styled Filson Rugged Twill fabric cover.

“There’s magic in Chris Stapleton’s take on our iconic Princeton Reverb amplifier; it’s based on a truly special, rare vintage amp, and there was a lot of fine tuning throughout the development to get it just right,” said Norvell. “Chris had a very specific sound and performance he was looking for. With that said, we can’t wait to release it to the public and hear the reactions.”

The '62 Princeton Chris Stapleton Edition amplifier will officially launch in February.
