Colombian singer/songwriter Juanes is known for a stunning solo career that has seen him win countless awards, including 20 Latin GRAMMY® Awards and two GRAMMY® Awards.

His soulful voice, technical guitar chops, steadfast activism and marriage of rock, pop and world music have captured hearts and minds around the world. While he largely sings in Spanish, Juanes is truly a treasure that knows no borders.

And while Juanes recently released an acclaimed covers album entitled Origen that draws from global greats like Bruce Springsteen and Mexican icon Juan Gabriel, he dipped into his earlier catalog for this edition of Re-Creation.

Picking up an American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster, Juanes chose to play the song “Odio Por Amor,” which was the lead single off his 2008 live album, La Vida… Es Un Ratico, stripping down the performance to just him and his guitar. Standing in front of a series of colorful stained-glass windows, the result feels like a prayer for everyone to exchange “hate for love,” a poignant message in today’s climate.

Watch Juanes perform “Odio Por Amor” with the American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster in the video above. Shop the American Acoustasonic series here.
