Mike Dirnt Precision Bass®

Model : 013840
$1,049.99MSRP
Mike Dirnt and his Green Day bandmates pretty much single-handedly brought punk-pop to the masses in the '90s and continue to rock harder than ever today. Designed to the hard-hitting and oft-airborne bassist's own specs, the Mike Dirnt Precision Bass® is as unique and cool as Green Day's music. Modeled on the 1951 Precision Bass, it features a slab ash body with a '55 arm contour and pickguard. Other features include a thick C-shaped maple neck modeled on Dirnt's 1969 Precision Bass, Custom Shop '59 Precision Bass pickup and Badass® Bass II™ bridge with chrome hardware.

Nice N' Heavy!

(5.0)

I have owned this bass for around seven years now - since they first came out. I always loved the early precision styling, but could never hope of owning one. Valuewise, the price on this has gone up by around 40% since i bought it which is a good investment. Based on the " slab " precision design , there is only one contour ( at your right elbow ) and is easily the heaviest bass i own, but the slab shape and weight is exactly what i like about it giving it a great vintage feel. Solid BADA** 11 bridge , "NAMED " machine heads , ample neck and good heavy sound all go to make a bass that can easily hold its own against a later model style precision. ( I recently replaced the pickup covers with white ones and it gives a nice look) Criticism? Well i wish that FENDER had given this one a " TELECASTER BASS " badge because it HAS different features to the very first marks. I feel it would have suited it well, but that's just me. Always a winner!

Best Kept secret!

(4.0)
myrtbass on February 19, 2013
Semi-Professional R&B Funk Jazz

This bass is probably one of the best sounding Precision Basses yet. It has a nice growl if the tone control is in the right spot. The neck is just right and has a good feel. The only criticism I have is that it should have a back contour. And it's heavy, so you need a good strap. The bridge and the custom shop pick-up add to the overall bite and sustain of this bass. At this price point, I think this is Fender's best kept secret.I would definitely recommend the Fender Mike Dirnt Precision Bass to anyone looking for a good all around bass.
