I've been learning how to play the guitar for a year. A few months ago I wanted to start playing the electric. I didn't know much about the guitars but I read some reviews and watched a couple of videos and I decided to get this guitar. I had only $175 (bought in Poland) so I couldn't afford anything more expensive. When it finally arrived at my home... I was kinda amazed how marvelous this instrument is.
Now I'm a little more experienced guitarist and I know more about guitars. But I still think I accidentally made a very good choise. So - if you are a beginner who wants to play blues, rock, jazz or funk you can - nope - you s h o u l d get one of these.
Features (5/5): a typical strat, nothing to say.
Playability (4/5): a bridge and tremolo are a bit annoying but you can fix it by setting the guitar on your own. If you use heavy strings guitar often goes out-of-tune.
Value (5/5): the best one you can get for this money.
Design (4/5): a typical strat. Pickup selector is kinda frustrating.
Tone (4/5): even though it's a nice guitar, I expect something more from a Fender strat.

This guitar is very awesome ! I have a Squier Bullet from 2002, that is a hardtail version that doesn't have the whammy bar, I really really love the playability of the fretboard. I am one who has real small hands that does not have heck of alot of muscle tone and this super light weight guitar is perfect for me. The Guitar neck is very thin and so easy to grip with my hands has a nice color finish to the neck fretboard. This is perfect for either A NEWBIE , Child , Or Simply someone like myself who has small soft and weakish hands. I can't wait to finish my current recording project with Squier Bullet.

Cons: The tremolo is weak and will detune the instrument instantly and it's not properly setup at the factory. Nothing else wrong to say about this guitar.
Solution: Set up your guitar (truss rod, bridge height, pickup height, intonation and action) to your own preference and block the tremolo bridge on both sides at the back of the guitar to make sure that it's not moving anywhere and you will increase the tuning stability and the playability of this instrument... especially when bending notes really hard.
Pros: For $135 Canadian (taxes included), you can't ask for any better. I like the look better than the american and mexican versions. The playability and the tone is really good for this range. And YES you can play metal with its single coil in the bridge position. You just need to pick a little bit harder than usual and compensate the lack of distortion from a usual humbucker with your amp or with your pedal effects. This guitar is slimmer and lighter than the other standard models.

I have never owned a guitar in my life and the other day I just decided get because I have wanted to learn how to play off and on for several years. I walked in to my local guitar shop told the Mr. what I just told you and my budget. He pointed me told about the guitars in price range. I picked the Bullet and before I bought it he (the sales Mr.) played it for a few minutes. It sounded great! I didn't know it was used and I really don't care because it sounded awesome! I have been trying to teach myself how to play and can't get over how nice it sounds and the wide range of the sounds. I can sound crisp and bluesy, or country, or rock and metal. I will definitely look at Fender guitars in future when I am a seasoned player and actually know something versus now, which I know ABSOLUTELY nothing about guitars and guitar playing.

Great guitar for the money. I own a LP Standard 2012, and this is my second guitar. One thing I will replace are the tuning knobs. Those are no good. If you feel it is okay to change the tuning knobs, this is a great guitar for the price.

This is my 2nd electric guitar and was a real shock because it plays better and sounds better than my 1st guitar. Its tremolo system throws it out of tune but i just learned that I was putting my strings on wrong so it might be that too. Every time I look at this guitar I just want to play it. It looks that great. One of these days I'm going to change out the pickups because I don't particularly like the tone that they produce. I took a carnival cruise last winter and was shocked to find that one of the entertainers who plays solo in the grand atrium played this exact guitar and it sounded great. I was shocked. Anyway, I would definitely recommend this guitar to anyone new or seasoned it just plays great.

I am a active guitarist with over 36 years of playing and recording. I own top of the line guitars mainly. I bought this used, mainly as a vacation guitar. I am very impressed by all aspects of this Strat. Very good indeed, and cost very little. One of the best values I have ever had. I highly recommend this for the working player as well as the beginner.

I am an over the road truck driver so I bought my bullet to take with me in the truck. This Bullet is great to practice with as I am a beginning player, but I seem to collect guitars. Gor the money you can not beat the Squier Bullet. I also play it though a mustang mini amp & this combination is good for a trucker on the road.

I bought my used Blue Bullet from a local Pawn Shop for practically nothing, it has a basic fixed bridge, & no tremolo. I figure I would "mod" it up & used it as a "project" guitar to tinker with, but yet I go to it at any moment to practice on & try new fingerings or exercises. It is hard for me now to pick up & support my "heavy" USA Lead II that I own (due to a back injury), so this Bullet really is ready on the fly to come in when inspiration hits. This is a great guitar for ANYONE (new or seasoned) who just wants something ready & available, where functionality is key..... minus the pocket emptying cost with some models.

I bought my Black Bullet about 3 years ago and still love playing it. For the price of 99 Euros it is fantastic. The finish is without anything to complain about, the frets are great and well rounded with no sharp edges, the mechanics hold the tune and even the tremolo doesn't give any reason to complain. The sound of the three single coils is great - regarding the price. The only thing I am not that fond of is the single layer pickguard. I might change that to a nicer one one day. But again: You probably won't get any better for this amount of money. Thanks to Fender for enabling such a pleasant start into guitar playing.

Great sound, played it at Sam Ash and couldn't put it down for anything the owners almost had it kick me out!!! But I had to buy it

I like classic design of this guitar. It suites to any style of music. Moreover it sounds great (I mean in its price range). Due to 3 pickups and 5-Position Blade you can reach very different sounds. This guitar is a great choice for beginners.

I Bought this guitar in december of 2008 i have to say that i bought another brand and model but when i realize that it was very bad i returned to the store and changed it for this and for just $10.00 dlls. more i got a superior quallity instrument, in my own experience the frets were smooth, the intonation was good the sound exellent, i got mine in sunburst and.. man i really love it, just an upgrade to the tunners and pickups if you want but nothing more, Now i own a Fender Stratocaster Floyd Rose made in Japan 1989 and thanks to the Bullet i can say.
FENDER I LOVE YOU
I own this guitar and I used it to learn playing guitar in general.
As I see it there is only one flaw—the pickups aren't the best but still excellent for the price.

I bought that guitar, because i wanted to have that vintage sound of the early Dylan or CCR recordings...i thought, in the 60s you could buy a Strat for $100 and now you can buy a Bullet Strat for ~ $100.
I played that guitar in the last year and it's awesome...it's absolutely nice to play and sounds very good. I play very hard, i hit my instruments sometimes, but the Strat works even now good.
So i think, it's a nice thing to play 50s rock 'n' roll or some The Who stuff but even Clapton or Dylan.

I have 2 Bullets, one Pink, one Red. The Pink one cost me £55 second hand, still with the scratch plate protector on and little used, the Red one new was £99. The Pink may get modded a few years ahead but for now it's the "control" to the Red Bullet that is being changed to a Mark Knopfler Replica, with mint guard, Texas Specials and vintage tinted neck.
The original pick-ups in the bullet are poor. Not the tone, but the lack of variance between the 5 positions. The tremolo is a waste of good metal and you'll need to keep tuning it.
If you want to buy a guitar as a first step or for modding, then it's great - you do not want to be spending £300 to find that Guitarring isn't for you or your kid. If they/you do get into it, move up the Squier and Fender range and you'll find a guitar for every occasion.
Possibly a better first option may be the "Stop Dreaming" range, where you get a Squier Affinity, amp and other goodies.
The Bullet Strat is very good value. It is a Squier and a Squier is a Fender, so the badge on the headstock is right. In the UK, £100 gets a new one, £60 a great condition secondhand one.

You plug one into your amp and you get the sound of a strat.
However, to trust a Bullet live, a machine-head upgrade is required.

My friend owns this guitar and I play it frequently. It's intonated well, but the frets are a little sharp and will hurt your hand if something is not done about them. If you change the pickups (Seymour Duncan Strat pickguard) it will sound pretty good. Also, some springs in the tremolo gave out, so I'm going to be fixing that soon too. I would recommend this to someone on a REALLY tight budget who would not mind modifying their guitar from its original condition, but to a serious player such as myself who wants an out-of-the-box quality instrument, I would have to go for at least a "mid range" Fender, $399-$499 on Sweetwater.com.
A good choice for a beginning "DIY fixup" strat if you MUST have something that says "Fender" on it. Otherwise, I would recommend a Rondo strat style guitar off of eBay.

$199.99 is not what you're going to pay for a custom shop strat, and likewise, that's not what you're going to get here. This instrument is great for beginners, or for beginning guitar repairmen to experiment. However, this guitar can be the gateway for instrument addiction (from experience). You get one instrument, then all of a sudden you have many instruments.
When you do get it, go ahead and bring it in to have the neck locked down, and new strings put on it. This will help keep her in tune and get her ready to rock.
The Bullet Strat as a serious guitar just isn't. I bought it to modify and have some fun with but that hasn't turned out the way I had hoped. The intonation is so bad that I'm not sure where to start to fix that. The frets are also so sharp they actually caused a small bleed on my fretting hand when I first played it. I switched out the pickguard and pick ups and improved the looks and sound but it is so hard to play that after a few minutes I switch off to another guitar.
