Fender’s Vintage Hot Rod ’60s Telecaster is a three-pickup beauty that gives you the best tone, style and performance of both eras—authentically vintage-style design touches straight from the 1960s and hot-rodded modern mods ideal for today’s players.

Premium features include an alder body; maple neck with “D”-shaped profile, vintage-style heel-end truss rod adjustment and satin finish; and a compound-radius (7.25”-12”) rosewood fingerboard with 21 6105 narrow jumbo frets, oversize white pearloid dot inlays and a bone nut. Its triple-threat pickup configuration includes a single-coil Twisted Tele® neck pickup, Texas Special™ Stratocaster® middle pickup and single-coil Broadcaster bridge pickup. In addition to the five-way blade pickup switch with “top hat” tip, an S-1™ switch adds the bridge pickup to pickup switch positions 3, 4 and 5.

Im no Astronaut

I am a Esquire guy, and I built my last guitar, I am not a "corporate' guy. I built my "Esquire" to my specifications, no compromise, and then I win this $2300 Vintage Hotrod '60s Telecaster. I am in need of a new amp, I figure, I know I am not going to like this "D" profiled neck, and I had a "Nashville" once, didn't like it, I will sell this thing off, and get me a great amp. Well things don't always go like we think they are going to.
I am no Astronaut, I like it simple, this thing has pickups all over it, and a 5 way switch, and S-1 switching, and not a bad tone in it...... what was that?? Yeah I set out "Knowing" I was not going to bond with this guitar, nothing about it is "my" style, other than "Tele". But yeah, tone is great, even that little lost pickup in the middle, that's not s'posed to be there, sounds great.
Finish, well it's Nitro, everybody just salivated a little, didn't ya?? I have heard it all, only way to get good tone, wood can breathe, that's one of my favorites, breathing wood, Vintage instruments, bla bla blah. The other side, it doesn't hold up, it is "sticky' feeling, more bla bla blah. Let me tell you, it is nicely applied, I found no finish flaws on the thing, it looks and feels great, and doesn't feel cheap like it's been dipped in plastic, like poly does, and that satin neck begs to be played.
My bottom line on this guitar is, it plays very nicely, sounds great, and looks and feels like the quality instrument it is. as far as Value goes I am not sure about that, I don't think a Tele should cost that much, but it is a damn nice guitar, so if you can justify the money, and these are the features you are looking for, you shouldn't be disappointed. As far as This lucky winner goes, my "Esquire" is and always will be my #1. But I have me a damn nice "Caddy" I keep in the case, and take out for a Sunday Spin, wipe it down when I am done, and my grand kids will have a nice find one day, goin' through Grand Pa's stuff.
