I had a Chris Shiflett deluxe telecaster, but traded it in for this strat. No regrets and i have loved this strat the moment i touched and played it. I can play great funk on this and combinated great with my blackstar ht40 club. The only is those strings, they loose tone very quickly. Maybe Fender should provide the Ernie ball or elixer with this strat.

The Best Strat for the money

I really love the sound of the bridge pickup on this Strat. It has quite a bit more punch than the two single coils, but that is to be expected. The craftsmanship and finish are perfect. You can't beat the price for such a nice playing and nice looking HSS Strat.

I originally wanted to get an american strat but working part time i really couldn't afford it. so i started looking into cheaper models and when i came to this one i was glad i gave it a try. it is amazing - from doing anything from the sounds of a modern day rock to the feel of classic rock. The pickups it comes with are standard and the tremolo is 6 point, alder body. Though when you are using high gain it sounds good, its clean is amazing, esp on the neck pickup. i must admit that this guitar is great lead guitar for almost any style of music, it is not the greatest rhythm guitar in the world, but that is just the nature of the strat. mine is a 2011 and i paid 600 for it new. i highly recommend picking one up if you are in the market.

I Love These So Much That I Own 3

(5.0)
debraehart on March 13, 2013
Professional Blues Gospel Rock Classic Rock Country

I own three of these Fender Standard Strats. Two are SSS, and one is HSS. They are 2002, 2003, and 2004 years production and have the vintage fret wire on them, which I prefer, and I bought them when new. These are priced well, and they give you a lot of quality for the money. They are solidly built, and are workhorses for me. I always shield them, with star grounds, replace the jack with a Switchcraft, add in some extra copper shielding tape on the back of the pickguard, and I've upgraded and replaced the pots (only because they wore out) with CTS 250k's, replaced the switches with Fender 5-ways when they were damaged or wore out. I love the stock neck and middle pickups, and leave them alone. I put a Hot Rails in the bridge for an SSS version, and the HSS bridge pickup stays stock. I have thought of trying a set of the Super 55 pickups in one of them, and I might. The only issues I've ran into with any of mine has been a need for a new set of tuners on one guitar, and a few single replacements on the others, and 2 bushings. I've replaced the nut on all three with a hand-cut bone nut because the original wore down and needed replacement. I've also had to level the frets on 2 of them, but that is to be expected. I play the heck out of these guitars, and I love them! Thanks Fender!!

You can emulate sound and tone, but you can't imitate the feel of a guitar. I've played many brands and models but none feel as good as a Stratocaster. I am biased because I've had this guitar for 12 years, but the combination of the parallelism of strings to body, the placement of knobs and switches and the cut-away and shaping of the wood that contours to your body - you can't beat it.

White HSS Strat. Humbucking goodness.

I have 3 Teles that fulfill my need for Twang and I have a number of Squier Strats that give me the well known Strat sound.
The HSS Strat gives my sound so much more versatility. The humbucker gives the Strat some Les Paul fullness but without the spine deforming weight.
It is great quality, with thoughtful touches like the satin back neck but gloss fretboard. The tremolo actually works, unlike some of the cheaper Squier where the tremolo is a joke.
It plays great straight out of the box.
The price is also great. I see no need to buy an American Strat when the Mexican Strats are now doing such a great job.

Hey Guys,

The Fender Standard Stratocaster is now and always has been a superior product. They play like a dream, the tone is fantastic and so is the price. The Stratocaster is so versatile, from Buddy Holly tunes to Black Sabbath. Flip right over to the blues in a split of a hair. This guitar and all of Fender's guitars are amazing. I am always thrilled at the finishes that are available. So many choices! I also own a 2004 (1954 Relic) 50th Anniversary Gold Stratocaster, (MIM), one of the most amazing guitars that I have ever owned and I have had several!

Anyway, my friends at Fender, I do not have a single negative things to say. In fact I am a happy camper. Now, I am outta here, I have to play my Stratocaster with my 15 watt tube, screaming and warm, Blues-man Jr.!

See ya later!

Standard Strat

jdillon356 on February 20, 2013

I must admit, this guitar plays easily and smotthly, but the pickups are very shrill. I have a Blues Jr. amp, and even turning the bass way up and the treble way down, it sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard. I have tried a G***** LP and it sounds great. Maybe it's because of the price point?

That Strat "Quack" for a little Smack!!!

This is the 5th Fender Strat I've owned and 1st mim. It is one of my Fav's. I never thought I would like the ceramic p/u's but I was really surprised by the sound. The only thing I would like to see is a toggle to split the HB'r to get that single coil sound on the bridge p/u when I want it. But I have 2 Tele's for that. I had a mij HSS Strat with the Floyd Rose and it had one. I prefer the vintage Fender Tremolo over the Floyd Rose. I may upgrade the P/U's to CS's in the future but I'm pretty happy with it just the way it is.

Simply a great guitar

This is a go to guitar, a classic instrument that will serve you for as long as you want. The HSS combination provides everything you need for any style of music you want to play. The quality of the guitar is great. The neck is fantastic, love the profile, the smoothness of the satin finish on the maple neck. Frets are nicly finished, bridge is quality, everything about this guitar is quality, and the price is great value.

The pickups are really good, not the best, but very good for the price of the guitar. The singles are nice and punchy, but can be smooth too. The bridge humbucker, for me, could have a little more output and punch. But, thats what a JB is for!

I'll keep this guitar forever, the quality, versatility and value of this guitar really does everything I would want it to do.

HSS 'Fat' Strat

Ok, so I'm a bass player. But a bass player needs a guitar, right? I bought this new, in 2010 (I think). It's awesome. I've owned cheap replicas and copies over the years and doodled around on them, but now I have no need to ever buy another electric guitar.

This was my third guitar, and for the first few months I was very happy with the stock pickups but promptly replaced the bridge pickup. The neck feels great, but mine came with frets sticking off the edge. This is probably the best guitar in it's category.
