More about Road Worn® '60s Jazz Bass®

A veritable racecar of a bass, the Jazz Bass® guitar was born in the '60s and became the favorite of players who put as many miles on the instrument as they did on their tour buses. The more it was used (and abused), the more it growled back and became even more comfortable. Fender's Road Worn® '60s Jazz Bass guitar delivers that aged look and feel. Designed with '60s specs, including a nitrocellulose-lacquer finish, and built to look, sound and feel like it's got more than just a few miles on it.

Great Bass

(4.0)

Rock Classic Rock Country

I bought this bass in 2013. The neck is amazing. I spent some time in the music store and compared this bass to a number of other basses - Fender (American Standard Jazz, Geddy Lee signature Jazz, American Special Jazz) , Rickenbacker and Music Man. The neck on the Road Worn Jazz was the most comfortable to play. It's smooth and fast. I added a BadAss bridge to enhance the sustain and tuning. The bass plays and sounds great. I gig about twice a month and this is my go to bass. I play thru a Mark Bass 121p with the Mark Bass New York 121 extension cab. I would highly recommend buying this bass if you want a great playing, vintage sounding bass. Our band plays mostly classic rock, 50-60's and country.

I've owned mine since the 1st production year. It is the 3TS model. I had it set up by my luthier but I do that w/ every bass as I prefer low action which generally requires fret dressing and nut filing. I also had to move the bridge a bit to the g string side for alignment, which I did myself. My other personal preference was installing Thomastic flat wound strings (JF344). Once I was done setting this bass up I owned a real gem and it became my #1 bass. The reason I love this bass is the neck. It has that slightly rounded soft U shape of a mid 60's jazz I once owned and it is very comfortable and fast. I can play this for days w/o the hand fatigue that sets in w/ the very thin C shaped necks. I've been performing live and in studios for 43 years and these RW basses are real value once you set them up properly. The tone is pure vintage jazz bass w/o paying thousands of dollars for the real pre-cbs deal. It's also very light, balances perfectly, and extremely comfortable.
