Players continue to praise the Pawn Shop Series for evoking the more eccentric Fender creations of the mid-'60s to mid-'70s while delivering thoroughly modern sound and quality with a wealth of various Fender elements. New for 2013, the Pawn Shop Series introduces yet another pleasingly unconventional assortment of "guitars that never were but should have been," in which new models take the stage and long-vanished classics return in modern form.
With its racing stripe and short scale (30"), the new Pawn Shop™ Mustang® Bass authentically evokes the original "competition" Mustang Bass of the early 1970s. This time, though, you get the huge bass sound of a single humbucking pickup (the original had a single-coil pickup) and several classic Fender finish options.
Other features include an alder body, "C"-shaped maple neck, 9.5"-radius rosewood fingerboard with 19 medium jumbo frets, four-ply white pearloid pickguard, two Jazz Bass® control knobs (volume, tone) and a strings-through-body bridge with four adjustable saddles. Available in Three-color Sunburst, Candy Apple Red with stripe and Olympic White with stripe.

Thank the lord this bass came out! I have the Squier Vintage Modified Mustang Bass as well and it made me realize that the mustangs are not only my favorite guitar but my favorite bass! I've been looking for years for a bass that's short scale with a big rip your face off bottom end, and trust me I've just found the bass of my dreams. Between the paint and finishes and hardware and sound, this thing is heavy duty and high quality the absolute most beautiful looking bass I've ever owned. The humbucker is soo loud and bassy that you have to turn down your amp no joke! The tone I've always searched for a massive bottom end and not really much treble. That's exactly what the mustang sounds like. I run this through a fender rumble 350 and you better look the hell out because this setup will steamroll right over you. I'm just another proud owner of a fender product and I don't dare to step away from them.

I was scrolling through the Fender website and came across this beauty. I knew I wanted the white with the blue racing strip. I ordered it through my local music store. As soon as I saw it I was blown away by its stunning classic looks. So vintage, so cool! This bass is an absolute Ten! In every way. It's beautiful. the quality of build is flawless. The playabilty is lightning fast. The tone is thick and growly. This bass is Beauty and the Beast! I highly recommend this bass. It delivers in every way! Thank you Fender!

In the late seventies, I owned an original Mustang bass, which I used for my studies at the Royal Conservatory in the Netherlands. When I moved on in life, with other basses, I gave this one to my younger brother, and regretted it ever since. Now, with this new Pawn Shop series, I couldn't resist the temptation and added the Candy Apple Red to my collection. Not only do I find the excellent quality I remember, but the Humbucker makes a big difference. Playability is still great, thanks to the balanced configuration. The tone controls allows a sufficient scale of sounds for my purpose. This time, there is no way I am going to let this baby go!

I had been looking for a Mustang for quite some time, and the choice between new ( the only new mustang bass being white) and vintage was a saddening set of choices. I followed this release with great hope and can say it fulfilled my dream and then some. First things first, this bass is LOUD!! I like it better than any P bass I've owned or played and find it a serious alternative to my Rick. It took me a while to get used to the 30 inch scale but it has been worth it. I'd also like to say that contrary to the connotations a short scale carries, I am 6'3, have huge hands, and have played bass for over 10 years. This bass is fantastic for the sound I aim for. In a guitar, bass, drum trio the Mustang fills out the sound with a gorgeous mid range growl.
