Really nice sounding amp,...love it!

Amateur Gospel Country

Though I haven't had mine very long at all,...but I can say I love it's sound very much and it's all the amp I am ever going to need,...I can practice comfortably at home without disturbing the neighbors as I don't run the volume past 3 or 4! I got this amp to go with my brown sunburst MIM Standard Stratocaster guitar which I also like very much. I looked at other amps before deciding on this one,...what sold me on this amp was the sound quality of the Celestion speaker over the Eminence speaker in the Blues Deluxe Re-issue that I was originally considering. May be more amp than what a beginner/amateur needs, but as I see it,...you might as well go with what you really want and you won't have to spend more money on another amp later. Since I will eventually be playing in church, this amp was recommended over the Blues JR(another amp I had considered since I had one before) which is only a 15 watt amp as the HRD III will have more headroom to work with and still remain clean. I also like the fact the fact Fender included a cover with this amp as I like keeping the amp covered when not in use. A bit heavier than a Blues JR.,but still manageable,...and the price was right!

Great sounding amp!

This amp sounds great! Overall the design and construction are also first-rate. However, I have had to take it in for repair already in the two months I have owned it. Occasionally, the reverb just stops working and to date the Fender authorized service center has not been able to find the cause of this intermittent problem because the reverb starts-working again before the tech can locate the source of the problem. I'm sure that this problem will be rectified eventually and it does not affect the use of the amp otherwise. I do highly recommend the amp to others.

First, fender improved an already great amp. I've been using it with great results. People approach me to tell me how greatly my tone has improved. Also no matter how crazy loud your band mates are, this baby delivers 129 db more than any British stack. Don't hold yourself to old reviews, this third edition of the hot rod deluxe is built like a tank.

Hot Rod Series kicks some serious a**

(4.0)
climbinghigh01@msn.com on February 19, 2013
Amateur Blues Funk Alternative Rock Classic Rock Folk

This 40w gem can sure deliver the tone, volume, and performance that any musician will appreciate. It is a reliable work horse. When treated with the respect it deserves, and some fine tuning, you will have a professional grade amplifier that will last for generations. On the plus side: Unsurpassed true Fender tone. From the clean and bell like chime, long associated with vintage fender amplifiers, to more modern gain with the simple stomp on the provided duel footswitch. 3 12 AX7 and 2 6L6 tubes powering a 12 inch Celestion speaker ( 8 ohm ) with output jack for additional cabinet configurations. Vintage "chicken head knobs" add to the Fender styling. Along with silver and black grill and "dogbone" handle. Original Fender spring reverb. On the minus side: Factory tolorances in these mass produced products have fallen, so some pre-maintanence is suggested. First thing I recommend, is to have a QUALIFIED technician tighten all of the chassis and speaker screws to the correct tension. This will help to eliminate any unneccesary, and unwanted, internal buzz or vibration. Have the tech check to make sure that ALL of the other jacks, knobs and included items like foot switches, function properlly and are tightened to proper factory specs. I also recommend double checking that the power tubes are fully insereted and seated in there respective inlets. Due to shipping, and again, factory tolerances, these simple yet critical steps should be taken before you trudge your 45lb investment to meet your 6 string accomplice. Again, with proper handling, care, and some common sense, the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe will preform like the proffessional amplifier that it is.

ONE OF A KIND (MY GREEN MONSTER!!)

(5.0)
hillgregory18 on February 18, 2013
Amateur Blues R&B Gospel Jazz

After much online videos, fellow guitarist and finally checking it out in local store, it was a done deal = AWESOMENESS!! Its takes about 10 mins to warm up and it punches!! Used to rely on monitors to hear myself when playing live - no more of that. It has rich, deep warm tones, switch to drive one - single shotgun. Hit the second drive, both barrels punch through with authority with the GT technology tubes. Added my boxes and now the wife is gettin irritated and the neighbors complain- I'M IN LOVE!! 8D

Got this to go with my American Deluxe Ash Strat

Beginner Blues R&B Rock Classic Rock

This is a great sounding amp, a true Fender classic. I bought this shortly after buying my Strat, and they are the perfect combination for me. It has tons of power for most situations, and yet you can still practice comfortably in the house with it. I looked at all the the Fender amps before I bought this one, and also considered the Blues Jr. I'm happy with my choice though, as this is a lot of power and great sounding amp for the money. Although heavier than the Blues Jr it's still pretty easy to transport and carry.

Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 111 Lacquered Tweed

(5.0)
davidsellars1959 on February 18, 2013
Semi-Professional Blues Rock Country

Purchased in 2003 this amplifier came with a Jensen P12N Speaker - A great sounding amp with classic Fender Drive and sparkling cleans. I have gigged this amplifier 3 nights a week for nearly ten years and not once has it let me down. Also a great platform for my pedals some of which I use the effects loop and the overdrives straight in the front end. This amplifier has so much to offer with the three channels and plenty volume and headroom. The Hot Rod Deluxe 111 is a brilliant work horse , I love it.

More Versatile Than You May Realize

Many people see a tube amp and thinking of electric guitar happiness. Completely understandable. But there is more to this amp. I run a Taylor 410ce, Fender USA Tele, Fender MIM Strat, Fender MIJ Strat, Gibson SG, Seagull Acoustic, Gibson Mandolin, and a Cello through this amp and leave it almost flat, it handles everything with such clarity, such absolutely beautiful tone it's unbelievable. The only think I wish this amp was, was a little more sturdy, after touring for a year or so without a roadcase, this amp is starting to get really haggard (what amp wouldn't though)
