Fender’s Deluxe Roadhouse™ Stratocaster® guitar tears the place down with extra-scorching Strat sound and style. Its three Texas Special™ single-coil pickups are wired for supercharged tonal versatility, with a special V6 rotary switch (disguised as the middle tone knob) that delivers six distinct onboard-preamp tone settings from wiry single-coil to searing lead. The S-1™ switch built into the volume knob bypasses the preamp completely for pure Strat tone.
Other features include a tinted maple neck with "modern C" profile and large '70s-style headstock, 9.5"-radius maple or rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets, five-way pickup switch, four-ply aged white pearloid pickguard, three aged white control knobs (master volume/S-1, V6, master tone), and vintage-style synchronized tremolo bridge.

Excellent musical instrument. Construction and fine finish. Amazing playability, very good hardware and a very versatile tone.
Brazilian musicians need versatile instruments, and this guitar is just that.
With the preamp, you can extract sounds for many types of music. And it is extremely easy to operate.
The tremolo and tuners work well and hold the tuning using the same as a whammy bar. (If you put the strings correctly)
Great price, great product.

I absolutely recommend anyone buying this guitar, it has a BIG variety of sounds. The preamp gives you even more sounds to select from, you can for example choose the bridge pickup, but still get a thick sound or choose the neck pickup and get a thin sound. Fantastic guitar overall! The only thing that separates this guitar from the American Standard guitars are the price tag and the mark that says: "Made in the US". The Texas Special pickups are incredible, this is my second guitar that has the Texas Specials and they are unbelievable, they give you the sharp, "stabby" and thick blues sound, works great with rock too. No complaints about this guitar.

I've been eying this for about a year and a half now but never could justify the expense. When the "what would you like for Christmas?" question came up last year, I threw it out there not really thinking it would happen, but everyone chipped in and it did. What an awesome gift.
I got the Tobacco Sunburst, which looks the best by far in my opinion. This has some awesome stylistic features such as the big "paddle" CBS-era headstock, and the tortoise-shell pickguard of the previous version has been replaced with a pearloid. Good call Fender; I would have made that change myself eventually anyways! Aside from that, it comes preloaded with Texas Special pickups, which I love and again would have put in myself had it not already come with them, and standard features such as full-floating bridge and 22 fret rosewood neck.
Right out of the box, it played beautifully with great action and no buzz. The intonation was off just a bit, which was fine as I will put a set of 10's on when these are replaced and would have to adjust that anyway.
This is the first year they've used the V6 switch. I'm normally not a fan of active systems or of precious wood lost to a battery compartment, but this really allows for fast tone shaping. The master tone control has less effect than a typical Strat but is designed to work with the V6; together they quickly dial in a variety of distinctive tones. Put it on 4, turn the tone down to about 5, and pup switch to mid/neck, and you have a perfect SRV sound. Back the V6 to 2, a bit more tone, and you're now in Dire Straits mode with no other changes. I like it, but if you want, the S-1 switch in the volume control allows to you bypass the preamp entirely. And yes, it'll work in that mode without battery. :)
I've already upgraded to Schaller straplocks and have purchased the Fender locking tuners; they look like they will drop right in. They'll go on along with a steel trem block, and then I will have an exceptional guitar for the price.

In the early 1990's I was one of many who jumped on the MIM Strat bandwagon, seeking a good quality guitar at a very reasonable price, only to be disappointed by deficient parts and poor quality control. I have not seriously entertained the idea of a MIM anything since then ... until now. I recently strolled through my local independent music store, and there it was. The new arrival prominently displayed for all to see, a vintage white Strat with a maple fretboard and large headstock. Upon closer inspection, I find that it was also equipped with an onboard pre amp, and much to my dismay, hecho en Mexico. Since I already had it in my hand, I decided I may as well check it out. From that point on, it only took about 15 minutes and I was headed to the cash register with the guitar in tow. The fit and finish of these new Deluxe Roadhouse Strats are excellent, especially compared to the MIM standard that I had purchased back in the day. The fret job was very well executed, and this model now sports a 22nd fret. The neck is of the modern C variety, and very comfortable. The tuners, although nothing fancy, actually worked great and kept the guitar in tune. A trio of Texas Special pickups are standard equipment, and coupled with the onboard pre amp, sound amazing. The 1st tone control has been replaced by a 6-way rotary switch for controlling the pre amp level, and the 2nd tone control has become the master tone. The pre amp can be bypassed via the s-1 switch located on the volume control, and it is all powered by a nine volt battery located in the battery box on the back side of the instrument. Needless to say, I am very impressed with this guitar, and it totally redeems the Ensenada manufacturing facility in my eyes. If this type of quality is what can be expected in the future, this will most certainly not be the last MIM product that I will be taking home.
