Classic Series '69 Telecaster® Thinline

Model : 013690
$1,199.99MSRP
The semi-hollow body design of 1968's Telecaster® Thinline guitar was originally an attempt to reduce the weight of ash-body Telecasters. With its f hole and reshaped pickguard, it was a truly distinctive take on Fender's first great instrument. The Classic Series '69 Telecaster Thinline brings it all back, with features including a lightweight semi-hollow mahogany body with f hole, U-shaped maple neck with 7.25"-radius maple fretboard, vintage-style single-coil Telecaster pickups and vintage-style bridge and tuners.

I turn Tele player after this guitar

(4.0)
yoelmolina on April 4, 2013 (updated April 5, 2013)
Professional Jazz

I'm a Jazz guitar player, and I used to play with arch top, I sold one great Heritage I owned last year. This Tele makes me really happy and I just use it now. I consider it really expensive for what it is, but in the guitar market everything is really expensive for what it is now a days... anyway I find fender, considering how simple and cheap is build one of this guitars more exaggerated. I love the sound but the price is sometimes ridiculous. Frisell owned one of this ones, he of course changed all the electronics, and he said in an interview he paid $400 or less for it. The price has increased a little bit since 2000. He record one amazing album in trio with Paul Motian and Ron Carter with this guitar.

This system for the truss road is really uncomfortable, and stupid... but the revival fever is like it is. And if you change the tone cap, and the pots, you will see a fast (and cheap) improvement. Also this bridge is a little bit imprecise with tuning, but I tried Joe Barden compensated saddles and was worse, now I wear a gotoh 6 saddles... the tuning is better but I don't know if the sound is...

Try to get it second hand, I paid 600 euro for it in a sale shop, and I consider this guitar is really expensive for 900 or more... I paid 2000 for my old arch top, but if you compare how much it cost to build... you are going to pay 2000 for a guitar which cost 500 and a lot of time to build or 900 for one guitar which cost less than 100.

Jerry's '69 Reissue

(5.0)
jerrygm45 on February 20, 2013 (updated February 20, 2013)
Semi-Professional Blues Rock

My '69 Reissue was crafted in Japan. I don't know if they still make them in Japan, but the quality is excellent and the neck is great. With my Fender Blues Jr amp, I can get a very nice "bluesy" sound. Love my Tele!

My Black Telecaster thinline

(5.0)

Amateur Blues Folk

Best guitar I ever owned! Sold my Strat to get it and never regretted the decision. I play reasonably frequently in an electric ceilidh band as well as other odd sessions and the instrument has been great, never lets me down and always sounds fantastic, the range of tones suits what I am trying to play and it is always a pleasure to put the guitar on and play.

Super player !

Many people love the thinlines - I am one of them. I have not played the original vintage '69 , neither have I played the new US - models. But I am very satisfied with this one ! Mine is ash-bodied ,3TS. Beautifully built ,very nice wood - no sharp frets. Light weight ! I happen to like the 7.25'' neck radius with the vintage frets. No bad experience with fretting out when bending strings. ( I have to admit that I am very serious about setting up my instruments....) The pickups are great - pretty aggressive . The tone-control works excellent , very fine for rolling off the treble .
This has been my favorite electric for some time now ( I've owned it for nearly 2 years by now) She pours out raw Rock and Roll , Punk , smooth jazzy tones , and country pickin' ! The neck is smooth and fast ! Other players have tried it and willingly says it plays and sounds better than far more expensive instruments they own. I have to agree - I've got 16 other guitars to compare with.
There is ONE thing I am not too satisfied with: The tuners. It's the old-style F-tuners; IMHO they take some time to get used to - I guess the gear inside them works a little ''faster'' than most of my other guitars . But once I've tuned it - it stays very well in tune - so i guess it is pros and cons.
The tuners are the reason I gave ''features'' a 4.
Highly recommended !
