Telecaster classic tone!

Blues Funk Jazz Classic Rock Country

I have been a big fan of the Stratocaster during my 25+ years of playing, and I still am! A few years ago, however, I got more interested in jazz, country, and hybrid style playing. After having played a similar type guitar for a while, I decided to acquire a real Telecaster. To my surprise this particular version is so close to what I was looking for, and for the money this guitar is simply very hard to beat at any price range!

It is not only in looks very close to an original 50s Tele, but it offers classic Telecaster tone throughout! I can play jazz on the neck very convincingly, and country on the bridge or middle position (which blends the neck and bridge pickups, a most useful approach). Furthermore, it is also superb in handling crunch, OD and fuzz styles - I could not believe my ears and this guitar has indeed a whole lotta love - its my stairway to heaven!

The neck is very enjoyable to play. I have aligned the volume and tone pots so that when I can see the screw it means I play at 80% of the pot, which is a good setting for playing the bridge pickup and gives flexibility for adding more highs if desired. This re-alignment also solved a problem that the volume pot was originally not smoothly running from 0 to 100%- but now it does!

The body shows a nice ash underneath. It is not the lightest in weight, but has a very nice balance. I like the sound of the steel saddles a lot and will not change them for brass (early Tele's also had steel saddles so I am told). This is a guitar that can be made to play exceptionally well without any major mods necessary. It is extremely flexible and a perfect complement to my Stratocasters as it does truly sound like an original Telecaster in my opinion. It is a keeper!!

I love this guitar..... Sure, out of the box(or Deluxe gig bag) it does have a few(very few!) things that could have been better. Thankfully, as almost all tele players will tell you, they evolve into truly great instruments and then become yours. For me, the Alpha toggle switch was immediately replaced and brass barrel saddles were added. Unlike Micawber999, the tuning machines were so stable they have remained. The overall quality of the wood on this instrument is the kicker here.... The ash body is resonant as is the beautifully finished and comfortable maple neck.
This is a REALLY GREAT basic model that can be 'modded' into a true Clasic... Looks fantastic, plays amazing, sounds just like a great tele should. Highly recomended!....

I have owned my 50's tele, since 2003 and have played her to death!! she was actually born in 1998 and has never failed me. i did change the tuners to the american '52 reissue spec, as the original tuners were a little flimsy. the neck, and frets are flawless, as is the transparent white finish, or should i say were flawless, as she is now road worn. This guitar as typical of a Tele, in the right hands can do any style of music that you want. The tone and playability are fantastic, and i have never, had any performance, or repair issues. If you need a Tele for the road, or just want an excellent Tele, without dropping around $2000.00 this is the way to go, buy one you will be glad you did!!
