Best fender in the price range

When it first arrivedback in '08, it needed setting up, as expected.

This bass is pretty much the American Special Jazz Bass, except it's not american, same pickups and whatnot, it is definitely a huge jump from the standard mexican models. It has great depth and warmth as you would expect from a 60's J bass.

I have, however, had a few problems with the neck, I dont know if it's the strings I am using or if its the wood, or just bad luck (hence the 4* rating) I have to adjust the truss rod every month or so as it has a mind of its own. It is fine for a while then the action goes weird and i have to give it a little tweak to get the neck properly straight.

If you have this kind of budget, and you want fender, this is your bass! the only other bass that compares in this price range is a Sterling RAY34 by MusicMan... But that is a completely different sound. It depends on what you are going for.

All in all, excellent value!

I will first admit that I am not a real bass player, but a guitarist who enjoys playing bass from time to time. I've always enjoyed the tone of the Fender Jazz Bass. I used to own the standard MIM Jazz Bass and while I thought it was OK, to me it was lacking the vintage vibe. Once I got my hands on the 60's Jazz Bass, I had to take it home. Nuff said.
