Our '60s Jazz Bass® captures the essence of the decade - an instrument as tuneful and groundbreaking as the era it debuted in. Many of the period-correct details that made the original Jazz Bass® so great are meticulously replicated in this classic vintage-vibe beauty, which features the original offset waist, ultra-slim neck and pair of vintage-style alnico magnet Jazz Bass single-coil pickups. Whether it's early '60s Motown, British Invasion, American garage or later-'60s heavy rock and soul, this bass embodies a fantastic era in music.

The Fender Classic 60's Jazz Bass, whose production is shared between the USA and Mexico, is an excellent Fender and largely accurate replica of a 1960's Jazz Bass. It looks great (mine's an '03 model in black), shares identical features with a genuine 60's bass such as tuners, controls, bridge, body shape, pickguard and truss rod access and is very playable. It has USA-made pickups and a neck profile to die for. It also sounds great with that famous 'sweet spot' achieved by rolling back the neck p/u control. I have an original 1966 Jazz and am in a position to compare! Taking its street price into account, I believe that this reissue-type bass represents excellent value and is of first class build quality too. All in all, a superb Jazz. Well done Fender!

When it first arrivedback in '08, it needed setting up, as expected.
This bass is pretty much the American Special Jazz Bass, except it's not american, same pickups and whatnot, it is definitely a huge jump from the standard mexican models. It has great depth and warmth as you would expect from a 60's J bass.
I have, however, had a few problems with the neck, I dont know if it's the strings I am using or if its the wood, or just bad luck (hence the 4* rating) I have to adjust the truss rod every month or so as it has a mind of its own. It is fine for a while then the action goes weird and i have to give it a little tweak to get the neck properly straight.
If you have this kind of budget, and you want fender, this is your bass! the only other bass that compares in this price range is a Sterling RAY34 by MusicMan... But that is a completely different sound. It depends on what you are going for.
All in all, excellent value!

I will first admit that I am not a real bass player, but a guitarist who enjoys playing bass from time to time. I've always enjoyed the tone of the Fender Jazz Bass. I used to own the standard MIM Jazz Bass and while I thought it was OK, to me it was lacking the vintage vibe. Once I got my hands on the 60's Jazz Bass, I had to take it home. Nuff said.
