Fender’s new CF-140SCE has a smaller “folk” cutaway body shape and liberal string spacing perfect for beginners and flatpickers. Don’t let its size fool you though—it projects enough full, rich and resonant acoustic sound to fill a room thanks to its solid spruce top with scalloped quartersawn X bracing. A satin-finish mahogany neck with stabilizing dual-action truss rod makes playing the CF-140SCE smooth and easy.
Other upgraded features include mahogany back and sides, mother-of-pearl rosette and headstock logo inlay, rosewood bridge with compensated Graphtech® Nubone™ saddle and aged pins, smaller fretboard inlays (3mm), rosewood headstock veneer and Fishman® Presys™ pickup system with onboard active preamp and tuner.

An easy guitar to play, both the size and cutaway make it ideal for those of us who normally play electrics, and might want to deliver an acoustic variation to their set. The neck has a "familiar fender feel", although the action is slightly higher than a Strat or Tele (as you'd expect). I spent some valuable time adjusting the truss rod and lowered the action, and give it a litte time to settle before adjusting again.
Has a great tone, which stands out against its competitors and surprised me with a very solid bottom end.The Fishman pickup is effective at delivering the same tone when using an amp, with excellent clarity.
The finish on the body is excellent. On my particular guitar the finish on the neck could be a little better, particularly near the join, some scratches and excess glue. The back of the neck is satin finish, which is my preference as I've found gloss gives the sensation of sticking.
A familiar feel to the fret board makes transitioning from a tele or strat easy (all my guitars have rosewood fretboards and I've been playing for over 20 years so I'm now at the stage where change would be difficult). The frets aren't as nicely rounded as some of Fenders more expensive offerings but at this price it'd be unrealistic to think they would be.
Overall I couldn't find a guitar with a better tone at this price range, or even a couple hundred dollars more. So if your willing to forgive a few small imperfections and focus on tone and playability you'd struggle to go past the little gem.
