More about CF-140S

Fender’s new CF-140S has a smaller “folk” cutaway body shape and liberal string spacing perfect for beginners and flatpickers. Don’t let its size fool you though-it projects enough full, rich and resonant acoustic sound to fill a room thanks to its solid spruce top with scalloped quartersawn X bracing. A satin-finish mahogany neck with stabilizing dual-action truss rod makes playing the CF-140S smooth and easy.

Other upgraded features include mahogany back and sides, mother-of-pearl rosette and headstock logo inlay, rosewood bridge with compensated Graph Tech® NuBone™ saddle and aged pins, smaller fretboard inlays (3mm) and rosewood headstock veneer.

I've been playing for almost 40 years, and I've owned a ton of guitars. This has to be the best bargain in an acoustic I've ever come across. I can't believe I only paid $247 brand new with a hard-shell case (really brand new...they un-boxed it, brought it out of the back room, and put it in my hands). The tone is great! Nice bass, even with the shallow 000 body. Balanced mids, and clear highs. Good sustain too. Nice neck. The neck width is just right width for my combination flatpicking and fingerpicking style. The neck profile is a little chunky for me, but I'm getting used to it. Nice frets. Well crowned. No sharp edges. The tuners are fine, too. And the inside smells like wood, not glue. The only negative is the bridge pins. They are too small for the holes, and they are they tend to spring out (more than usual) when installing strings, and they are really hard to remove, due to the fact that they press (fall) down right flush with the bridge. Easy fix. Just get better pins. As soon as I can afford it, I'm going to buy the version of this guitar with electronics for stage work.

Beginner Alternative Classic Rock Folk Country

My wife has played many musical instruments throughout her life and comes from a very talented family. She has always wanted to play guitar but hasn't been able to because of arthritic issues in her wrists and hands. We are only in our 30s so this isn't going away.. The local guitar shop here has been helping me with a solution and ordered one of these to try out. She has been playing for a couple hours per day for 2 weeks now. Beautiful! Looks like this will be the beginner guitar replacement for the Yamaha FS and FG series. I started on an FS. It is very nice but doesn't touch this guitar in the playability arena. Final note, the sound is beautiful as well and the tuners hold well. Tune up and enjoy. Thanks Fender. You have made an affordable product that has enriched someone's life more than you know. I have rated this item valued at what is actually is. No it doesn't sound like a $3,000 guitar, but it absolutely sounds better than what you are going to pay for it.
