Ok I tried this guitar as a bit of a joke.
Scalloped frets with no wood supporting the strings? Metal oriented tone?
High supplied action? Relatively low mounted pickups (obviously both of these points are adjustable).
I like dirty guitar sounds but I like a wide range of them so my guitars go from Strats to Jems.
Well I am pleased to report that the design of the guitar combined with the setup makes for a truly versatile guitar.
Yes it can even do clean Strat sounds.
And when you want to shred this guitar is so focused and never harsh sounding.
A real keeper! Complaints? Well the no load tone pot clicks so hard into place that you can't simply roll it back with your little finger - you have to grab it and turn with two fingers and this takes an age to do when you are playing. Fortunately mine was only fitted with one and not two.

I bought my first (of 2) Yngwie Malmsteen Signature Strats a couple of years ago and they are the best guitars I have ever owned. I had the guitars set up with a slightly lower action than the factory setup and it plays like a dream. The tremolo stays in tune which is impressive with a vintage style trem. It took a little while to get used to the scalloped fretboard, as I found I would sometimes push the string off the neck on the high E, but once I was used to it I find it hard to go back to a non-scalloped fretboard. The pickups are quiet and have that full Yngwie tone that any fan of Yngwie's loves and I'm sure anyone with an ear for a good guitar tone would appreciate. Bottom line is that the guitars were worth every cent and with it's versatility it fits any guitar style and really that is what Stratocasters have always been famous for.
