Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo. Jazzmaster® guitar slung across seminal shoulders. In the hands of both men, the sound of Sonic Youth is the sound of that guitar used as part paintbrush and part cluster bomb. If anybody ought to have a signature Jazzmaster model, it's those two guys.
Done. Fender's Thurston Moore Jazzmaster and the Lee Ranaldo Jazzmaster guitars rock classic Jazzmaster gestalt, youthfully stripped down and hot-rodded right through the roof.

I read somewhere that this guitar was not intended to be a 'museum piece,' and it includes a sheet of stickers apparently meant for the body, but it's a museum piece to me. It's got a gorgeous finish that apparently requires it to be kept at room temperature for 24 hours before taking it out of its case in order to preserve it, so you may want to get this mainly as a studio axe and/or just to stare at lovingly unless you live in a temperate climate (I'm in Canada with its nine months of winter). There are many great Jazzmasters in the current lineup, but this one I see as a real keeper. What got me hooked on Jazzmasters was Kevin Shields/My Bloody Valentine, and I was never really a Sonic Youth fan until discovering this guitar. But for those who crave a USA-made electric with an offset body and want super high gain as well as the lovely combination of black, blue, and stainless steel (in short, a killer Jazzmaster), you can't go wrong with this guitar whether you're familiar with Mr. Ranaldo's work or not.

Can't believe no one has rated this guitar, as much as I love Thurston, Lee's guitar is more my style, more dark less bright. Plays like a champ, set up in my style was easy, the favorite of all my Fenders. I think I will stop with this one.
