Nice Neck

(4.0)
psteffensen on January 7, 2014 (updated January 7, 2014)
Semi-Professional Funk Jazz Classic Rock Reggae / Ska

I have owned this guitar for about a year and a half, and I am very satisfied.

The first thing that comes to mind is that the neck is super! I have always liked the look & sound of the telecaster, but I have not owned before I bought this. The clean tone is pure and I would describe it as "naked". I like that very much.

I mostly use the front pickup, but when I need to cut through in a band I use the back pickup. The middle position is rarely used, although it has a nice hollow tone.

All in all I think it is a very good guitar, but it does not have anything special, like a characteristic tone of personality. It is a good standard guitar, that I can use for almost everything.

Best clean sound ever

(4.0)

I've got an American Standard Telecaster that was made in '99. It is still my go to instrument for writing riffs and, bar none, the best sounding clean instrument I've ever owned or played. I swapped out the original pickups for a set of Vintage Noiseless pickups to cut down on the hum and they have done a fabulous job. I can't speak on the newer electronics that are in the models coming out now, but I can say that the Vintage Noiseless pickups work for me. The neck on my Tele is fantastic, smooth, and easy to play. I can get almost any sound I want out of the Tele and it even sounds good when I venture into super high gain territory on my rig. There's just something about a Telecaster; there are reasons why the design has remained mostly unchanged since it came out decades ago. While I haven't gigged much recently, I'm still always changing the gear and the settings that I use on my equipment. The one thing that remains constant is my Tele. I have several other guitars and I use them for different things, but the Tele is still my go to axe.
