Fender's American Deluxe Stratocaster® HSS guitar is for guitarists who want a little more. A compound radius fingerboard allows effortless string bending anywhere along the neck, and two N3 Noiseless™ pickups provide improved Stratocaster tones while the DH-1 humbucking bridge pickup has more output for fatter lead tones; all with no hum. Reconfigured S-1™ switching offers other distinctive tonal options. The "passing lane" switch instantly routes your signal from any pickup position to the bridge position with the tone circuit bypassed, giving you more overtones and a little more volume. Other features include staggered locking tuners, LSR roller nut, two-point synchronized American Deluxe tremolo bridge with pop-in arm, and beveled neck heel.

I've been looking for a guitar that can play anything from R & B to Heavy Metal, and this guitar delivers. If you're looking for some Telecaster twang, it's got you covered. If you're looking for Stratocaster clarity, it does that. If you're looking for a heavy crunching, hard hitting bite, man oh man has it got you covered! It's color options are pretty average, but the sound that this thing is capable of thrusting forward is unbelievable, it instantly became my favorite guitar. Passing-lane switching is like having a fuzz pedal built into your guitar, and S1-switching lets you add more depth (for lack of a better term). It does all of this flawlessly. I couldn't be more pleased with mine. it's a wonderful guitar and it comes highly recommended from me.

I purchased this guitar four years ago and since the very first moment I played it, I understood the name and fame of Fender. A perfectly balanced instrument that allows you to play a huge range of styles, from jazz blues or country to rock or heavy metal. The S1 selector increases the tone options when playing. I got the tungsten colour and I love it. The only thing I think I will change in the future is the pickups. Noiseless pickups are not bad as a standard but I think you can always find other ones than match better with your playing style. I play blues and rock and this little princess makes her job!

I own a 2006 American Deluxe with roller-nut, and many other guitars. This guitar is not just a guitar, it is a musical instrument, like a fine violin. It does everything I ask of it with no issue. The tone is great, I can play everything from Delta Blues to Metal, and everything in between. The thing that makes this guitar "sing" is the playability. It is fast, forgiving, and I love the fact that the tremolo goes both ways, up and down. I can play any song from Robert Johnson through to Van Halen through to Metallica, with no issue. Of all the guitars I own, it is definitely the best. I've played every guitar from every major guitar manufacturer, but if I were stuck on a desert island and could only have one guitar, this one would be the one.

After watching this item for over a year I finally took the plunge and bought one from the local Sam Ash. They had what I wanted and a 4 digit serial number to boot. So my 60th anniversary Am Deluxe Strat HSS is here. I am not very good yet after only a year and a half but after playing an Am Standard I felt I could appreciate the tonal opportunities offered by the HSS and the S-1 switching.
It's got lots of tones I am making use of and the Passing Lane switch is also great. unlike some who think it's too much I set my amp level with the switch active. Then I set the guitar volume to what I need for rhythm playing. That way when I need the extra power it is exactly what I expect and never too much.
Before taking delivery I went over every inch of the guitar and I found no flaws whatsoever. The Tremolo was set floating and it's great. The only item I would change is the Tremolo bar set screw pressure could be higher to hold the bar in place where I set it.
I should have studied the locking tuners more to understand how they work but that's my fault not the guitar. All in all I am not in doubt I would buy this guitar again if I had the chance. Can't say more than that about a product.

This was the first Fender product I ever bought and I was amazed by how great this guitar felt to play. I really like the features on the guitar like the compound radius fretboard, contoured heel, locking tuners and LSR nut. After I bought it, the middle pickup died after a couple weeks but the guitar store replaced it for me. The other problem I had was I really started to dislike the tone of the DH-1 Humbucker. I know that a humbucker has more output than the single coils but the volume difference when switching between the humbucker and other positions was too great and that annoyed me. It also sounded to loud and trebly. When I tried to roll back volume or tone or adjust my amp settings, it just got too muddy and I couldn't find a happy medium. I replaced the DH-1 with a Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro and it sounds a lot better! It has a lot more clarity and the output matches the single coils much better.

I got a chance to take one of these for a test drive.
Pearl white w/ rosewood fingerboard.
(I have a 1991 American Strat Plus Deluxe w/Lace Sensors and have enjoyed that Strat from day one when I bought it new.)
The noiseless singles in this new Strat are a great sounding pup.
The tone circuit bypass is an awesome and excellent feature on this guitar. I was happily surprised at the resulting tone taking the pup's output straight out to the amp in.
The bypass is something I would use on occasion, but the actual tone circuit is fantastic and allows the player to greatly alter the guitar's tone for different tonal flavor.
That's one of the Strat's greatest aspects, the variety of tones you can get from one guitar. Les Paul's and most other humbucker guitars give you 2 main tone variations and that's it. The Strat gives a LOT more.
The only downside to the HSS model is that the HB in this Strat is not the best I've heard. It's not a bad HB, but this guitar would be much better with a better HB, something like a Duncan JB would be fantastic in this Strat.
I would LOVE to see Fender offer a fixed/hard tail.
A large number of Strat players find ways to lock down the trem with various levels of success. I would LOVE it if Fender designed and offered an optional fixed tail like they do for Tele's. If I had the choice I would JUMP on a Strat with a factory hard tail.
An even better option would be a trem that easily goes from floating to locked down.
My dad bought a Fender Stratocaster American Deluxe HSS for me two days ago. The first time I tried it just felt really good to play, and the tone was great. I can recommend using it with a Fender Reverb amp.

I am so pleased to be able to review this guitar. I had a Deluxe Strat a couple of years ago and was persuaded to swap it for a Tele. Although I enjoy the Tele, nothing feels quite so comfortable to play as a Strat and for me, this is the best model of all as it has so many brilliant useable tones. I put matters right this week and bought an Olympic White Pearl with Rosewood fingerboard. There is nothing it can't do and do well. I love the N3 noiseless pickups and the humbucker gives you that bit extra if you need to rock. By today's standards this is not a highly priced guitar but it has a top quality feel. Just for fun I played it for over 60 songs yesterday and there wasn't a tone I couldn't find. I absolutely love it.

I like this guitar very much, it is between old and new. It is a weapon for expression and it can be used for different styles of music, which is great because I don't like to play only blues or hard rock or reggae but a mix of them and other styles. It has a vintage character but also contains many modern features.
BUT I really don't like the colours. They are soooo boring. I mean black? It's trivial colour.
The colour of the guitar is a part of her character, so we need modern colours here and more colours. For example Lucerne aqua mystic is so beautiful and it matches perfectly for this guitar. Generally the Eric Johnson rosewood has 4 fantastic colours that the deluxe could borrow.
Also i dont like very much the case but this is a detail.
Please do something.
Except the colours I think that this is a dream guitar.
I've had my deluxe for about four years and this is by far the finest guitar I have ever owned and maybe ever played. I have always been a Fender guy. I owned a hot rodded late sixties mustang and a jaguar over the years - mostly because I couldn't afford a nice strat. I loved those guitars, but this is something in its own league. The fit and finish on this guitar is absolutely flawless. The three color sunburst is deep! The neck is by far the most playable I have ever known. The tone is incredible and the options the S-1 system gives are tremendous. When you want classic strat tone it is there in buckets. What a fantastic example of Fenders greatest guitar, and at a really reasonable price for a something so excellent.

I have an American Deluxe SSS ( a few years older with SCN pickups). I'd love to pick up an American Deluxe HSS, but the colors just suck.
Fender would you please offer a Translucent Blue (like the Deluxe Players) on quality wood (like your plus tops) and an american deluxe feature set?! I love the cutaway heel and the S1 Switching options, I've put locking tuners on all my guitars, but I have to say my Mexi-strats are pretty much of the same build quality as the american ones - once set up they play just as well. The american models usually get a better case but I can't say the build quality is better. So from a Value perspective....the american deluxe is a bit overpriced if you can't get it how you want it.
Also I'm not sure why they stopped making the SCN pickups...in favor of just the N3's?
Still, if you are going to own 1 stratocaster, and it is going to be a new model, I'd say this would be the one to buy. It can do everything you're going to want to do, most likely.
On the good side, the new noiseless pickups and S-1 configuration provide a wealth of tones. With the S-1 button off, it is all the classic tones Im looking for. Body and electronics not a problem. Very nice.
However, for the cost of this particular model, I ran across the 3 in stock with poorly manufactured necks. Fret edge overhang was enough to saw off a tree limb. The foreign versions sitting close by had better constructed necks. In addition, the model I purchased appeared to be slapped together; the locking tuners (nice btw) were all finger tight. After checking same models nearby, found numerous tuners loose as well. I expect these models got through quality control. Neck assembly needed tightening. Overall, With this model (and other like models), I was bummed at the overall assembly which should have been flawless out of the box. After completing a once over on the entire guitar, to include fret edge shaving, checking over hardware, and string height adjustment, intonation. etc., this model is as awesome as my strats of the past.

In my opinion, The American Deluxe HSS Stratocaster is the finest crafted electric guitar made in the USA. Fender has created a masterpiece of design, part, finish, and playability. This Stratocaster is perfect in every way. The tones are pure liquid audio from the N3 pickups, and the S1 switching system with the "passing lane" switch is fantastic. The Atomic Humbucker is totally delicious and completely responsive. Rosewood fingerboard and maple neck are perfect in form and fit. Bridge is massive with sustain and comes with a pop in tremolo that stays in tune when wanged very hard: excellent. The Roller Nut and locking tuners are outstanding. And, the case is the cherry on top, case is superb, plus the guitar comes with the Fender goodie bag including strap locks, strap, cable etc. If there ever was a Stratocaster to own, this is the one folks. My Stratocaster is finished in Amber and it’s beyond beautiful, just perfect: thank you Fender for creating a nirvana moment with this wonderful guitar.

I've played many guitars through out my 16 years of playing and this one has topped them all!! I actually sold my other electrics after i bought this one because this one can project any sound you want. I've never been more impressed with a guitar in my life the look feel and features are perfect. With hardly any tweeking the action was set and ready to roll. If your on the fence about getting this get down and buy it. Totally worth it!!

This guitar is top of the fender, both for aesthetics and for the wonderful sound it has. It's the guitar I've always wanted, as an aesthetic, sound and functionality. It is the electric guitar par excellence. You have created the most beautiful guitar ever! Well done guys!
What a guitar! I'm a left handed player and I am so bummed they don't make this guitar for us lefties. I know they make it s s s and I do own one. Was even more upset that they came out with a surf green one - it ruined my day since that is my favorite color ever and a v neck! Fender please us lefties need more choices. I went to guitar center & flipped this guitar upside down and tried playing it. omg! Loved it. Great job guys. Don't mean to complain but I know lefties feel my pain. ok I'm done!
I owned an Amer. Stan-Strat (1983 2-knob) for 30 yrs. Decided to upgrade to the deluxe series after a lot of research of all types of guitars, and this guitar blows my mind, and completely surpasses all aspects of my previous guitar. Had a hot-rail in previous guitar and this HSS setup with the real hum-bucker is completely mind boggling in conjunction with the S-1 switching the sound and recording options are endless! Everything about this guitar is unreal, from fit and finish, to well just everything, WOW!!!

This guitar has it all - looks, feel, playability, sound - incredible! The amber finish/maple fingerboard combo is stunning to look at, and the pickups provide all the tonal variations one could possibly want. I find it hard to put down - this is the one guitar I own that makes me a better player!

This guitar is so versatile. It plays fantastic, sounds amazing and looks great doing it. The hardware is top notch & the finish throughout is perfect. I get compliments on this guitar when I open the awesome case it came in & when I play it. This guitar will be passed down to my son some day for sure. But I'm going to play the hell out of it until that time!

Can't say enough about this guitar. Have had it a few months and have still not been able to explore all its capabilities and sounds!

I started playing guitar with a Squire Bullet Stratocaster HSS. I liked it very much, but the build quality was basically "you get what you pay for". I wanted something that felt better in my hands, had better sound, but still the same style. The American Deluxe Stratocaster HSS fit the bill. I am VERY happy with this guitar. Other than putting Elixer Nanoweb light/heavy strings on it, I have not changed anything. It is very easy to set up and it maintains it's tune quite well. Since I am not an expert, please take my review with that in mind. However, my instructor loves this guitar and keeps telling me how nice it is.

I love nice guitars, I have a collection of 17 including a Les Paul Custom and a Les Paul The Paul, and while I love them all for individual reasons the Strat is the Ferrari. It is functional, nothing is just for aesthetics every thing delivers. The LSR nut is an improvement that allows mindblowing bends thoughout the range of the neck, effortlessly. The locking offset tuners, flawless in their simplicity and functionality, Tuning stays even when applying some abusive tremelo. Easy to set up and she stays set up, Saddles and bridge are clearly a part of the package. The wiring and SW1 switching coupled with (On Mine which is an 08) Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pickups equal wonderful tonal range and little to no hum. I live in an older poorly grounded home and I can tell you the difference is immediately noticeable. This is why like I say in the title that this instrument is like a Ferrari, she is built...no crafted with love, for the driver, the player to enjoy and the exhilaration is worth every cent . The Humbucker...well that was just being greedy and a Strat purist my not love the idea, but I do, and its just evil !!! HSS or SSS You pick up a Strat Deluxe you wont want to put it down.

All the features do make this a deluxe stratocaster. The S-1 electronics provide additional useful tones. The humbucking pickups sound great. The desired stratocaster magic is there in the #2 & #4 pickup positions. The playability of the "modern c" compound radius neck is perfect for my hand. Finish was flawless. Floating tremolo (whammy bar) stays in tune. In the decades the stratocaster has been produced some were horrible, this one is a pleasure to own.

This guitar has the smoothest, fastest neck of any other guitar I own (Les Paul Special with '57 Classic pickups; Epiphone John Lennon Revolution Casino; Martin 0008EC; Takemine TSF48C "Santa Fe"). It also has the outrageous roller ball nut. The sound was also outstanding, but while I greatly enjoyed the tone of the neck pickup, the bridge Humbucker wasn't exactly what I was looking for. My guitar tech made some suggestions and we agreed to replace the pickups with 3 Lindy Fralin overwound Strat pickups in the standard configuration. We also changed the selector switch with a 3-way and wired the lower tone control to the bridge pickup.
The results of the mod made this a truly one of a kind Strat. It has a wonderful bell-like tone when clean, and great response to my Tube Screamer and Philosopher's Tone pedals. While I love all my guitars I play the Strat 80% of the time. My hands just seem to glide over the fretboard and I play faster and cleaner than ever before. Thank you Fender for a great music machine!

I got this about a year ago.
The white paint is outstanding and the workmanship is better than any other manufacturers I have ever tried or looked at.
With the S1 switching and the humbucker this guitar has ten settings and they are all unique and sound great.
I like this setting, then I like this one, then I like this one and it goes on an on.
This is model has to be one of the best guitars ever designed and built by Fender....I want a couple more.
I have played a lot of other manufacturers guitars and I have to say Fender is miles ahaed of their closest competitor and the rest of the industry in terms of overall quality.
The Paint, the sound, the fit, the technology, the shape of the neck, nobody does it like Fender.
Go try one ....
