Fender has taken a cinematic turn in the launch of its new high-end Fender Select series of electric guitars with a highly stylized print campaign featuring Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. and a slick new short fictional film titled “Selected.”
Produced under the new creative banner Fender Films and running under four minutes, “Selected” is a playful tribute to classic spy films and was shot on location at the historic Sunset Marquis hotel in Los Angeles, the venerable home-away-from-home for touring rock legends including the Rolling Stones, the Who, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, U2 and many others.
The Fender Select series campaign is a creative complement to the desirability and distinctive design elements of the new Select instruments. The film taps into the mystique of the search, anticipation and desire involved in the quest for a new musical instrument; a colorful journey into the mystery surrounding a true object of desire. As every musician knows, the unwritten songs that exist within the perfect guitar are just waiting for the player to discover them and give them life.
