A complete Velvet Revolver – Fender signature artist Duff McKagan, Slash, Scott Weiland, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner – got back together this week for a one-off performance in support of the “Love You Madly” event, a benefit concert for the late John O’Brien, a longtime friend of Kushner.
O’Brien, an influential musician, was found dead at the age of 45 in his Chicago hotel room last August.
The event also featured performances from Tom Morello, Sheryl Crow, Stephen Stills, Maroon 5 and Fishbone.
But seeing as how it was the first time Velvet Revolver had played with Weiland on the mic in four years, the headliner’s four-song set at Los Angeles’ House of Blues was highly anticipated.
VR ran through original tunes “Sucker Train Blues”, “She Builds Quick Machines” and “Slither,” in addition to a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here.”
