Artist Tyler Bryant of Honeygrove, Texas, has quickly earned a reputation for being a guitar prodigy. Bryant won the Robert Johnson Blues Foundation’s New Generation Award at age 15; has performed at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago; starred in the documentary Rock Prophecies, and has shared the stage with Aerosmith, Heart, REO Speedwagon, Paul Simon, BB King, Pat Benatar, The Arc Angels, Vince Gill and many others. As of tonight, he can also add opening for legendary guitarist Jeff Beck to his resume.
Bryant was en route earlier today to Salt Lake City for tonight’s show at the Depot when he pulled over at a truck stop in Little America, Wyo., to discuss the tour.
“I was in rehearsal with my band (Tyler Bryant Band) when I got the call that I had just gotten the Jeff Beck tour and I’m pretty sure I ran up and down the halls at like 400 miles an hour because I was so excited,” shares Bryant. “It came out of nowhere and I’m kind of just over the moon. Jeff Beck is my favorite guitarist so it’s going to be three-and-a-half weeks of me taking notes and watching him play. I’ve been listening to his records since I can remember and he plays the guitar like no one else in the world ever has. He pretty much created a style that no one else can even come close to so I’m looking forward to watching him every night.”
Bryant recently released new EP My Radio, available here, and plans to begin working with his band on the full-length album this May.
