Once the Kills took the Lands End stage Saturday at San Francisco’s Lollapalooza, it didn’t take long to realize that frontwoman Alison Mosshart was going to be a show-stopper.
With two-tone hair coloring that blended blonde into red, a smart leather jacket and her impassioned, herky-jerky moves across the floor, Mosshart immediately drew the rapt attention of the huge crowd ready to check out the Kills’ hard rocking tunes.
Backed by four red bandana-clad percussionists, the Kills blazed through kick-you-in-the-face tracks like “Sour Cherry,” “Kissy Kissy” and “Heart is a Beating Drum.”
With clockwork-like drum beats punctuated by guitarist Jamie Hince’s axe-wielding shrieks, the Kills brought an audience chilled by the Golden Gate Park cool temperatures to its feet.
