The California Kid was a 1974 TV movie featuring Nick Nolte, Vic Morrow and Martin Sheen. Sheen plays a hot rodder, out for revenge against a sadistic, small-town sheriff (Morrow) who was responsible for his brother’s death. Morrow’s routine is to punish those breaking the speed limit by deliberately running them off precipitous mountain curves.
Even in his personal life, Sheen looks out for others. For over ten years, he’s been a volunteer at the St. Joseph Center in Venice, Calif.
During a recent visit to the St. Joseph Center last Thursday, Sheen autographed a Fender Custom Shop California Kid Stratocaster® that was donated to the charitable community center. The design of the guitar is based on the 1974 hot rod classic film. The custom paint design on the guitar was created by Manuel Reyes, the same artist who painted the ’34 coupe that Sheen drove in the original movie.
