The Adventures of AutoVaughn

The Adventures of AutoVaughn

Here’s the debut blog for AutoVaughn, winners of our Road Worn competition. This entry is brought to you by AutoVaughn’s lead singer Darren Edwards.

We’ve been huddled up inside Eastwood Studios here in Nashville for the last couple weeks. We’ve taken 40 new songs and narrowed them down to 15 for the new album. We want to release a double album on laser disc and 8 track with the remaining 25 next year. :)

We didn’t have any instrument options when recording our first two albums so this time around has been amazing for us. With numerous guitar and amp choices we’re taking our time finding the perfect tone for each song. Thanks Fender (for the prize package).

We’ve also still been playing spot dates on the weekends so that we don’t forget how to play live. Some of the dates coming up are:

8-15 @ JJ’s Bohemia – Chattanooga, TN
8-21 @ The Franklin Fairgrounds – Franklin, IN.
8-22 @ The Lakeview Music Fest – Chicago, IL.
8-27 @ The Social – Orlando, FL.
8-28 @ The Earl – Atlanta, GA.
8-29 @ Mercy Lounge – Nashville, TN.
9-12 @ Red Rocks Amphitheatre – Morrison, CO.

We’re shooting to have the album done before our Red Rocks show in Sept., and then probably have a big CD release here in Nashville in Nov.

We also just got a new iflip camera so we’ll be doing a lot more video/photos. Stay tuned :)

In the meantime, here’s a Vlog of us working with Eric Fritsch on the album.

Also here are some photos of us taken by Tamara McCray.

Like I said, we’ve got options now.

Stephen noodling around with one of the new guitars.

That’s me, testing out the Gretsch 6120. Gotta find that sweet spot.

Engineer Eric Fritsch explains something VERY serious to me while simultaneously tuning Steev’s guitar without looking.

Andy busting it down in the Eastwood attic. Otherwise known as the “beat chamber”.
