Swift Donates $500,000 for Flood Relief

Taylor Swift has donated half a million dollars to flood relief, also calling in last night to Vince Gill’s telethon, which raised more than $1.7 million.

“Please keep Nashville in your heart,” encouraged Swift in a Twitter post. “Seeing a picture of the Grande Ole Opry halfway underwater was a kind of heartbreak I can’t describe.”

Gill and his wife Amy Grant also donated $100,000 to the cause.

“Everybody [in the music community] is on pins and needles about our stuff and how it’s going to be but then you look at someone sitting on a roof, waiting for a boat to come by and come and get them and it puts it all in perspective,” Gill told People.

Keith Urban, Naomi Judd, Kenny Chesney and Alison Krauss were among those who participated in the three-and-a-half hour telethon which came to and end with everyone singing Gill’s “Go Rest High on that Mountain.”
