Renegade English soul-rockers The Heavy are currently streaming their new album, The Glorious Dead via Billboard.
And while you’re listening to the record’s first single, “What Makes a Good Man?,” see if you can pick out the trademark sound of a Fender Precision Bass.
That’s what guitarist Dan Taylor told Billboard was the basis for the album’s lead single. Taylor said he found a 1978 Fender Precision Bass while writing Dead, and he immediately found inspiration for the track.
“The first baseline I played was ‘What Makes a Good Man.’ The song basically came from that guitar. It was almost as if we were destined to be together,” he said.
Due out this week, Dead is the band’s third LP and a follow-up to their acclaimed sophomore record The House That Dirt Built.

The Heavy will be performing “What Makes a Good Man?” on The Late Show With David Letterman on Aug. 30.
