Fender and Squier signature artist Jim Root and his band Stone Sour have entered the studio to begin work on their fourth album for Roadrunner Records, expected to drop in the fall of 2012.
The band is camped out in Sound Farm Studios outside of their native Des Moines, Iowa, with producer David Bottrill (Tool, Muse, Staind), and according to the band’s official website, most of the album is already written.
The yet-unnamed piece will be a follow-up to to 2010′s Audio Secrecy, which yielded the smash single “Say You’ll Haunt Me.”
In anticipation of the next chapter of Stone Sour, Roadrunner is giving away a digital copy of “The Pessimist,” which appeared on the Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon soundtrack via iTunes. Grab the single here.
