On July 23, Blink-182 returned to the stage for the first time in five years with a show at the Joint in Las Vegas. The launch of Blink’s reunion tour was selected by Spin as one of the 30 biggest concerts of 2009.

Other Spin concert mentions:

The Killers’ Jan. 19 show at Denver’s Magness Arena in support of new album Day and Age.

Atlanta band Mastodon performed a live set of Crack the Skye on April 10 in Birmingham, Ala.

Green Day’s “21st Century Breakdown” tour first stopped in Seattle’s Key Arena on July 5. Lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong pulled a few concertgoers onstage that night, allowing one to even play his axe.

Sept. 13 marked the opening date of the U.S. leg of U2’s “360 World Tour.” It took 120 semis to haul the stage to Chicago’s Soldier Field, an indication of just how BIG these shows have been.

A few weeks later, on Sept. 29, Paramore kicked off their tour in support of Brand New Eyes at the Fox Theatre in Pomona, Calif.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band finished up a Giants Stadium 5-show run on Oct. 9, playing the entire Born in the USA album.
