Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has sold out of two pressings of AEGEA, a new solo double LP that includes experimental recordings that date back as far as 2007.
“As a work, AEGEA is experimental in nature, and comes across as more a soundtrack to some lost foreign film than the kind of music I’m usually associated with,” Corgan wrote on the SP website. “Listening back I quite like how AEGEA goes along, as it has qualities that are both meditative and alien; but not alienating.”
Corgan initially offered a limited run of 250 copies, each hand-numbered and annotated by Corgan and sold through his suburban Chicago tea shop Madame ZuZu’s for $59.95. Due to demand, he added a second pressing of 250 copies to be manufactured on red vinyl. Unfortunately, that run has already sold out so fans clamoring to sample his solo effort will have to settle for this video below.
