Rancid’s Matt Freeman sent us a note saying that his new signature Squier basses have been “killing it” during rehearsals for their upcoming two-week run in support of Blink-182 (also featuring Against Me and My Chemical Romance). The tour kicks off on Aug. 25 in Winnipeg and wraps on Sept. 4 in Denver. Immediately following, Rancid will headline four shows of their own. (Tour dates available here.)
Rancid plans to return to the studio after the tour to record their eighth studio album.
“We thought that these shows would help us to get our chops up before going into the studio,” the band states on their official website. “It’s always good for us to go out and play some shows, just to get us ready before going into the studio, and that helps bring that live energy to tape.”
