Reunited indie rock gods Pavement appeared on the Colbert Report this week to perform “Gold Soundz,” which is featured on their recent compilation album Quarantine the Past: The Best of Pavement. The tune originally appeared on their 1994 album Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain.

Asked by host Stephen Colbert why they are back touring after 11 years, Stephen Malkmus answered, “Because it’s fun. Rock and roll is fun.”

The band also teamed up with Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to help make rock and roll fun for a lucky fan. Tonight on the show, the winner of the Play Guitar With Pavement contest will get to perform with the indie rockers on live television. See some of the contestants’ entries here and then tune in tonight to see how the winner does!
