The president just couldn’t refuse Buddy Guy’s command.
Tuesday night, the East Room of the White House hosted the latest in a series of concerts hosted be First Lady Michelle Obama, who has celebrated the American songbook with events like these in the past.
This time, it was blues – in honor of Black History Month.
And while blues royalty like Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy, B.B. King and Mick Jagger all performed, it was President Barack Obama’s show closing rendition of “Sweet Home Chicago” that grabbed headlines.
Guy called Obama out of the crowd, citing his recent crooning of “Let’s Stay Together” at the Apollo.
“I heard you singing Al Green!” Guy said. ”You done started something, you gotta keep it up now!”
