Premier Guitar’s October issue features a lengthy interview with jazz-funk bass titan Marcus Miller – or as Premier fittingly calls him, “the man with the golden thumb.”
In the feature, Miller talks about his fifth solo effort Renaissance which was released this summer
“This time I just wanted to make it about the performances,” Miller told Premier. “That’s where the renaissance idea comes in for me. It’s a return to five or six guys playing in the studio, doing things that, frankly, not everybody can do.”
Miller also discusses his beloved 1977 Fender Jazz Bass, which he’s played for 35 years.
“When you’ve played an instrument that long, you really know all the sounds it’s got to offer,” said Miller.
Miller’s arsenal also includes a variety of 1977 Fender Jazz basses, a 4-string Fender Marcus Miller signature Jazz bass, and a 5-string Fender Marcus Miller Jazz V bass.
