Neo-classical metal shred god Yngwie Malmsteen and his Fender signature model are front and center on the cover of Guitar Player’s February issue. The cover story highlights Malmsteen’s latest work of art, Relentless, an album that GP writes “continues the guitarist’s long string of insane, epic, and still jaw-dropping releases.”
Malmsteen had this say to GP about his musical revelations:
“As I’m talking to you, I’m looking at a Strat plugged into a little Marshall stack. Every single time I pick this guitar up and plug in something exciting happens and I have no explanation for it. So do I have musical revelations? I do—every day.”
Malmsteen’s guitar tech Chris Evin also chimes in with some additional details regarding his boss’s strings, pickups, amps and effects.

Also, set your DVR for Jimmy Fallon tonight as Malmsteen will sit in with the show’s house band, The Roots.
