If you are one of the people who adores Pixar’s short films such as “Partly Cloudy” or “Presto” and you happen to be taking your kids to see TriStar Pictures’ new movie Planet 51, be sure to get there in time for the previews. Four hundred U.S. theaters are showing “Live Music,” a five-and-a-half minute computer-generated animated short inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.
Set in a musical instrument store, “Live Music” follows Riff (played principally by legendary guitarist Steve Vai) who falls in love with Vanessa, a classical violin played by acclaimed violinist Ann Marie Calhoun.
The short film reflects the collaborative efforts of 51 animators from 17 countries who used a unique application built by Mass Animation on the Facebook Platform.
