Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson of the Replacements are back with some new music to benefit former bandmate Slim Dunlap, who suffered a stroke last year and is now partially paralyzed.
The Songs for Slim EP features five tracks, including the Gordon Lightfoot cover “I’m Not Sayin.”
Westerberg and Stinson pressed only 250 limited-edition autographed copies to 10″ vinyl and auctioned them off in January. The auction raised over $100,000 to help with Dunlap’s medical bills. A digital version of the EP came out today.
Now, the Songs for Slim project will begin holding more auctions, beginning on the 15th of each month throughout the year that will last a week. Fans will have the opportunity to bid on 7″ singles by artists such as Lucinda Williams, Tommy Keene, Frank Black, the Jayhawks and Deer Tick covering Dunlap’s songs.
In the meantime, check out “I’m Not Sayin” below and visit Songs for Slim’s fundraising website for more information.
