After a nearly year-long break after their 2010 world tour, The Killers will “definitely” be releasing a new album in 2012.
That was the word used by frontman Brandon Flowers in a recent interview with BBC Radio 1 host Zane Lowe.
Now, the matter is which month.
“It’s just whether it’s [released in] the summer time or the winter time,” Flowers said.
The Killers haven’t put out an album since 2008′s Day & Age, with Flowers releasing a solo effort (Flamingo) in 2010.
The Las Vegas rockers did play a few one-off shows together, however, including last year’s Lollapalooza in Chile.
Flowers said he is fired up to get back with his bandmates.
“It’s just exciting getting everyone in the room to make some noise,” he told Lowe. ”It’s quite a bit louder that with my solo thing, so I’ve got to get used to that.”
It sounds like the as-yet-untitled album will be an amalgam of The Killers’ three previous releases, including Sam’s Town and Hot Fuss.
“We don’t want to make Hot Fuss 2 or Sam’s Town 2, or Day & Age 2. We’ll maybe take all that stuff, the best of all of it and do what we know how to do,” said Flowers.
