Blues guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd was honored earlier this week by the Tipitina’s Foundation in his hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana with the unveiling of a giant portrait of the musician. Taken by photographer Jerome Brunet, the KWS portrait now hangs outside of Tipitina’s Music Office Co-Op building in Shreveport, accompanied by tributes to fellow local artists Brady Blade and Buddy Flett.

The non-profit organization, which provides New Orleans public schools with musical instruments and raises awareness of the rich New Orleans musical legacy, also announced the launch of Shreveport Instruments A Comin’. The new initiative will provide a $10,000 grant to a local school to provide instruments for the band.
