'Keef' And His Tele Grace Latest GQ Cover

Legendary Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards and his Fender Telecaster grace the cover of the latest issue of GQ as part of the mag’s focus on survivors of hard times.

“Keef” said that he likes to play guitar at least once a day, most of the time for an hour or so.

“Afternoons, evenings,” Richards said.  ”Pick around, play some Robert Johnson blues, hopefully make an incredible beautiful mistake which will lead me into another area. I do it for me. You know, I’m a selfish son of a bitch. I do it because it turns me on.”

It was a pastime that Richards revealed he had to all but abandon for the two years it took him to write his wildly-successful autobiography, Life.

Now, he can focus more on his music.  Richards is currently working with his sometimes side-band, the X-Pensive Winos, and a future release of an expanded version of the Stones’ late-70s hit Some Girls.
