Jim Root Lands On Guitar World Cover

With their first U.S. appearances since the death of bassist Paul Gray looming, Slipknot is a hot ticket this summer.

As such, guitarists Jim Root and Mick Thompson landed on the cover of the June issue of Guitar World, which contains an extensive interview with the duo.

When asked about his gear, Root talked about his signature Fender and Squier Telecasters and Fender Stratocaster, but he also gave some love to a new Jazzmaster he’s been playing.

“I have my signature Telecasters, but also a few years ago Fender made me a Jazzmaster that’s been blowing my mind,” he said.  ”It’s probably my favorite guitar right now.  I’ve been talking with Fender about doing some interesting new stuff with my line of Teles and Strats, and I think it may also involve a Jazzmaster in the future.”

Slipknot is getting ready to embark on a U.S. tour as headliners of the 2012 Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival.  To learn more, visit the band’s official website, and pick up your copy of GW here.
