Hobie and Fender Collaborate on Special Jag to Benefit Waves for Water

Fender hooked up with surf icon Hobie on a custom-design project to benefit Waves for Water, an organization working to provide clean water to communities in need around the world.

The partnership includes a package featuring a Fender guitar and a Hobie longboard, both of which will be auctioned off on eBay to the highest bidder with all proceeds going to Waves for Water.

Three Fender Classic Jaguar Specials were made in a custom Hobie Surf Green finish, with one going to the aforementioned auction, one going to the family of Jeff Alter, president of Hobie Designs, and one to Fender. The guitars feature thoroughly modern improvements, including hotter pickups, cut switch, Adjusto-Matic bridge, 9 1/2-inch fingerboard radius and neck pocket with increased back-angle for improved stability.

The nine-foot longboard comes in Hobie Surf Green and and is a replica of a vintage early ’60s Hobie surfboard.

To celebrate the collaboration, artist and surf/skate culture icon Craig Stecyk filmed and directed a video on the Fender and Hobie stories and the making of these works of art. The soundtrack is by Bob Berryhill of the Surfaris, who’s seen playing the limited edition Fender Classic Jaguar throughout the video. Watch it below.
