Help Put Ume on the Cover of Rolling Stone

Indie garage rock/punk trio Ume, led by husband-and-wife duo Eric Larson (bass) and Lauren Langer Larson (guitar/vocals), was one of 16 unsigned bands picked by the editors at Rolling Stone to compete for the cover of the magazine.

RS describes the Austin-based rockers’ sound as such:

“Distortion-heavy jams (and the whole marriage thing) invite comparisons to Sonic Youth, but Ume do more headbanging and wailing.”

Myspoonful.com meanwhile compared them to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Sleater-Kinney, writing that “Front woman Lauren Larson’s maniacal guitar work, blistering chops and arresting charisma give every leading lady from Joan Jett to Karen O a run for their money, while resuscitating an arguably hibernating genre within the indie music circuit: pure rock and roll.”

Check out the music video below for “The Conductor” off their EP Sunshower and if you like what you see, head to Rollingstone.com and help them advance to the next round.
