Glasgow’s indie rockers Frightened Rabbit recently debuted their new video for The Winter of Mixed Drinks track, “The Loneliness & the Scream.”
“The single itself is really about the same things that most of TWOMD focused on: a sense of isolation and the hints of madness and odd behavior that can arise as a result of that,” says lead singer Scott Hutchinson on godisinthetv.com. “Like a lot of the record, I also wanted to be fairly sparse with the imagery. I hoped the listener would try fill in the blanks and walk into the song, tying bits of it together along the way. But it’s a simple premise really. A person gets a bit lost and cries for help, or cries just to be heard at all. I suppose it was also relating to what I do most days as a singer in a touring band — shout to make people listen.”
The single will be released in the UK on Nov. 22, hitting stateside on Dec. 8, and will be backed by the new b-side “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.” Hutchinson performed the cover of Elton John and Kiki Dee’s 1976 duet with the Hold Steady’s Craig Finn.
Frightened Rabbit is also scheduled to release a new singles collection, which will feature all the tracks released from The Winter Of Mixed Drinks to date, including the forthcoming November single. The box set will be limited to 500 copies and will feature 7-inch formats of their singles.
The group is currently on a North American tour. Dates and venues available here.
