The Foo Fighters decided to strike back at a religious group known for picketing U.S. soldiers’ funerals with a counter-protest performance of their own. Dressed in the trucker costumes they sported in their recent “Hot Buns” video, the rockers stood atop a flatbed before their Kansas City show on Friday night and performed the song in front of the protesters from Westboro Baptist Church.
Frontman Dave Grohl, in an exaggerated country drawl finished the song with this message:
“Land of the free, home of the brave, I don’t care if you’re black or white or purple or green, whether you’re Pennsylvanian or Transylvanian, Lady Gaga or Lady Antebellum. It takes all kinds.”
