On Thursday, the Foo Fighters dropped a new do-it-yourself video for Wasting Light (due April 11) lead single “Rope.”
The entire video was shot on VHS tape to give it an edgier look, and as Foo Fighter frontman and video director Dave Grohl recently explained to MTV News, “We had to build this cube out of fabric and wood for the band to play within, and it’s lit from outside. And then, there’s a part in the video where it’s actually revealed that we’re inside this weird white cube. At first it just seems like we’re in this glowing white room from within, and then towards the end, the big reveal is we’re in this room, which is within a massive room.”
In related news, the Foo Fighters have announced a one-night-only screening of their documentary Foo Fighters: Back and Forth on April 5. The movie — which chronicles the band’s beginnings up through the making of their new album — will screen in 80 theaters across the country and will be followed by a broadcast of a live set. It will also air on April 8 at 10 p.m. ET on VH1.
