Music Radar recently got its hands on a Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HSH, and was rather impressed with the versatile axe.
Because of the single-coil pickup comfortably situated between two monster humbuckers, Music Radar said players have a lot more tonal options.
“The bruising bridge humbucker still provides the rock and metal goods, while the combination of the split- bridge/split-neck and middle pickup is great for classic rock and R&B rhythm,” said the website. “But the middle pickup sounds damn fine running solo.”
Music Radar’s closing remarks also praised the extra pickup.
“A rock beast now has a gentler side. That extra pickup offers a lot more options too.”
