Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb Receives High Marks

As the holidays loom closer and closer, product reviews become more and more common in the music trades.

And naturally, Fender products get their share of mentions.

This time, it’s the Fender ’65 Deluxe Reverb that was named the second-best guitar amplifier in the world by MusicRadar.

“Short of heavy metal, there’s nothing that the humble Deluxe can’t do in combination with a couple of well-chosen stomp boxes,” wrote the website.  ”It’s easily loud enough for club stages and also one of the most recorded amplifiers in history too. Every guitarist should aspire to own one.”

The Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III also got some love, coming in at No. 11.

Reported the MusicRadar team: “The most popular gigging amps on the market, Fender’s Hot Rod series recently underwent a makeover and as a result the third incarnation of the Hot Rod Deluxe is the best yet.”

I have owned the 65 Fender Deluxe for about 27 years. Got it for free at a garage sale in completely mint condition. It\’s the old story of a guy who bought it new to learn guitar. The learning lasted a month and he put it in the closet for all those years. It\’s a most killer little amp. I used to run it through a 412 Marshall cab and it kicked butt for most clubs. My only complaint is the lack of reverb, but a pedal fixed that, so no biggee.
